Anastasiya Mirontsava was born on January 15, 1996, and has five sisters. Before her detention, she was a final-year student at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. She took part in protests in August 2020, during which she was detained for the first time and tortured together with other protesters. She was released on August 12, 2020.

Anastasiya Mirontsava was detained again in October 2020 on a criminal case. Anastasiya was sentenced to two years of imprisonment. Some of the drawings Anastasiya sent from prison were exhibited at an art center in Hamburg.

On June 16, 2022, Anastasiya Mirontsava was released as she had fully served her sentence.
